In an increasingly interconnected digital world, improving internet infrastructure is more critical than ever. The Internet Society Peering Fellowship 2025 supports emerging leaders who are working to make internet access more affordable, resilient, and locally interconnected.
Over six months, 15 selected fellows will gain advanced technical training, policy insights, and networking opportunities through:
Virtual sessions covering key topics in routing, IXPs, and internet governance
In-person participation at one of three global peering events
Mentorship from seasoned professionals
Community engagement projects that deliver real impact at home
Each fellow will attend one international peering event, such as:
AfPIF 2025 – August 19–21 in Lagos, Nigeria
LACNOG 2025 – October 6–10 (location TBC)
Peering Asia 2025 – November 4–6 in Manila, Philippines
The fellowship covers:
Round-trip airfare
Accommodation during the event
Stipend for personal expenses
(Visa fees are not covered.)
Fellows will join a global network of internet changemakers and:
Sharpen their skills in peering, transit, and internet policy
Receive training from top experts
Contribute to community-based internet initiatives
Become part of a movement advancing an open, inclusive, and robust internet
You can apply if you:
Reside in LAC, Africa, or APAC
Hold a passport valid until at least:
April 2026 (LAC)
February 2026 (Africa)
June 2026 (APAC)
Have 3+ years of experience in internet-related work
Can commit to 4 hours/week from June to November 2025
Are fluent in English (the language of instruction)
Have reliable internet access and suitable devices
Can attend an in-person peering event
Applicants from Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States are especially encouraged to apply.
