Empower Urban Innovation: Building Tomorrow Scholarship 2025 Now Open

In an era where cities are rapidly evolving, harnessing the power of artificial intelligence (AI) responsibly is key to creating sustainable and resilient urban environments. Holcim, a global leader in sustainable building solutions, understands the potential of AI to revolutionize the construction industry—from boosting efficiency and precision to designing eco-friendly, disaster-resilient infrastructure. But with this power comes responsibility: it's critical to ensure that these technologies are used ethically and equitably.

To foster innovation at the intersection of AI and sustainability, Holcim has once again teamed up with One Young World to launch the Building Tomorrow Scholarship 2025. This initiative will empower five young changemakers from around the world to join Holcim’s delegation at the One Young World Summit 2025, taking place in Munich, Germany from 3–6 November 2025.

What the Scholarship Supports

This year’s theme revolves around the responsible application of AI in sustainable urban development. The scholarship is designed for young leaders working in one or more of the following impact areas:

Innovating with AI in sustainable construction
Enhancing processes such as material optimization, energy efficiency, waste reduction, and green building design through cutting-edge AI tools.
Leveraging AI for urban resilience
Using technology for disaster preparedness, climate adaptation strategies, smart traffic systems, or infrastructure diagnostics.
Promoting ethical AI deployment
Advocating for policy development, public engagement, or cross-sector collaborations that guide AI implementation in urban planning.

What Scholars Will Receive

Selected participants will be fully sponsored to attend the prestigious One Young World Summit, with a package that includes:

Full access to the Summit in Munich (3 – 6 November 2025)
Hotel accommodation from 2 – 6 November
Roundtrip economy travel to and from Munich
All meals during the summit (breakfast, lunch, and dinner)
Local transportation between venues
A pre-Summit program to prepare scholars for the experience

Who Can Apply?

You’re eligible for the scholarship if you:

Are aged 18–30 at the time of the Summit
Are driving meaningful impact in AI and sustainable urban development in one of the three focus areas mentioned above
Demonstrate leadership, passion, and a commitment to creating a better future
