If you're an emerging neuroscientist seeking to elevate your expertise through specialized training but face financial barriers, the Neuroscience Training Grants 2025 by IBRO (International Brain Research Organization) could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. This initiative offers dedicated funding to support early-career researchers—especially those from under-resourced areas—by covering costs related to neuroscience training courses.
Hands-on experience and structured teaching play a vital role in shaping the future of neuroscience. Recognizing this, IBRO’s Neuroscience Training Grants are tailored to support early-career professionals in accessing world-class neuroscience training programs. These grants help offset expenses like course fees, travel, and lodging, allowing participants to focus entirely on learning and skill development.
Unlike conference travel or lab exchange programs (which are covered under IBRO’s Travel Grants or Exchange Fellowships), this grant strictly supports neuroscience training courses scheduled between 1 July and 31 December 2025.
Open: 1 April 2025
Deadline: 31 May 2025
This funding opportunity is ideal for:
PhD students or postdoctoral researchers (within 5 years of starting their first postdoc).
Individuals accepted or planning to enroll in neuroscience-related training courses during the eligible time period.
Applicants not attending an IBRO-Supported School (as these schools require separate applications through their own portals).
Note: Another application window will open later in the year (1 October – 15 November 2025) for courses taking place between January and June 2026.
Applicants must submit the following:
Personal academic background and current research focus.
Course details: A breakdown of the training content and its relevance to your professional goals.
Impact statement: Explaining how the training will boost your research and career growth.
Letters of recommendation: At least one reference, including one from your current supervisor.
Budget breakdown: Including course fees, travel, accommodation, and any matching funds from co-sponsors.
The grant covers:
Course registration fees
Travel expenses
Local costs during the course
It does not cover:
Conference or symposium fees
Lab exchange programs
The maximum grant amounts vary by region:
Africa: $5,000 USD
Asia-Pacific: $3,000 USD
Latin America: $6,000 USD
Pan-Europe: $4,500 USD
