The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is now open for applications for the 2026–2027 Open Study/Research Awards, offering an extraordinary opportunity for U.S. students, recent graduates, and early-career professionals to pursue fully funded graduate-level study or research in more than 140 countries around the world.
As one of the most prestigious international exchange initiatives sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Fulbright empowers individuals to design independent projects, partner with global institutions, and fully immerse themselves in diverse cultures.
The Open Study/Research Award provides U.S. citizens the flexibility to:
Design a unique graduate-level research or study project
Collaborate with foreign universities, research centers, or organizations
Build lasting academic and professional networks
Enhance their cross-cultural skills and global leadership potential
The awards are open to:
Graduating college seniors
Recent bachelor’s degree holders
Current master’s and doctoral students
Early-career professionals
Must be a U.S. citizen at the time of application
