The University of Nairobi, in collaboration with the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA), is pleased to announce the availability of up to three Paediatric Anaesthesia Fellowship positions for 2025. These fellowships will provide the opportunity for early-career anaesthesiologists to gain invaluable hands-on experience in paediatric anaesthesia and surgical care.
The Paediatric Anaesthesia Fellowship positions are for a duration of 12 months, beginning in September/October 2025. The fellowship is designed for physician anaesthesiologists who are registered in their home countries and meet the eligibility requirements for registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council. The fellowship is based at Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi, with fellows rotating through other hospitals with active paediatric surgical programs. The program includes a robust teaching curriculum, featuring an online platform with facilitators from around the globe.
Fellows will receive full funding to cover their tuition, accommodation, and living expenses during the program. The scholarships are intended to ease financial constraints and allow fellows to focus entirely on their professional development and education.
Applicants must be physician anaesthesiologists who are registered doctors in their home countries.
Applicants must meet the registration requirements of the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
Preference will be given to early-career anaesthesiologists working in Kenya and other Central and Eastern African countries.
More experienced anaesthesiologists and applicants from other African countries are also encouraged to apply.
Applicants must be supported by their national anaesthesiology society (which must be a member of WFSA) and their head of department or hospital management.
