This opportunity is designed for international students who aspire to pursue a Master’s degree at this historic institution. Scholarship Summary

  • Level of Study: Master’s
  • Institution: Leiden University
  • Study Location: Netherlands
  • Programs Offered: All Master’s programs in faculties such as Humanities, Archaeology, Medicine, Law, Science, Social and Behavioral Sciences, and more.
  • Scholarship Duration:
    • 1-year programs: Maximum 12 months
    • 2-year programs: Maximum 24 months
  • Deadlines:
    • 1 February for programs starting in September
    • 1 October for programs starting in February

Scholarship Coverage

The LExS offers financial support in three tiers:

  1. €15,000 of the tuition fee
  2. €10,000 of the tuition fee
  3. Full tuition fee minus the statutory fee

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Language Requirement: Proficiency in English.
  • Nationality: Non-EU/EEA international students.
  • Academic Excellence:
    • Must be among the top 10% of graduates in their previous academic program.
    • Proven outstanding results relevant to the chosen Master’s program.
  • Visa Requirements: Must comply with Dutch visa regulations.

Additionally:

  • Applicants cannot combine LExS with other full scholarships from Leiden University.
  • Continuation of the scholarship depends on maintaining academic progress, with a minimum of 60 ECTS required for multi-year programs.

Application Process

Follow these steps to apply for the LExS:

  1. Apply for Admission: Submit an online application to a Master’s program at Leiden University.
  2. Scholarship Section: Indicate your interest in LExS within the scholarship section of the application.
  3. Motivation Letter: Upload a motivation letter (max. 500 words) explaining why you deserve the scholarship.
  4. Submit Application: Ensure all documents, including the motivation letter, are submitted before the deadline.

If applying for multiple programs, submit a separate motivation letter for each.
