Forrest Fellowships are open to exceptional early-stage postdoctoral researchers who meet the following criteria:

  • Research Experience: Candidates should have experience in multiple institutions, with innovative doctoral research recognized beyond their current academic home.
  • Disciplinary Bridges: Applicants must aim to extend their research beyond their doctoral dissertation, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Commitment to Mentorship: Fellows must be willing to mentor Forrest Scholars, engage in ambassadorial duties, and provide leadership within Forrest Hall.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be in the final year of a PhD or within two years of PhD conferral.
  • Must reside at Forrest Hall during the fellowship.
  • Open to researchers from all disciplines worldwide.
  • Must meet employment eligibility conditions at the nominated university.

Program Benefits

The Forrest Research Foundation offers a generous package to support Fellows, including:

  1. Salary: Equivalent to a Level A Step 8 appointment (e.g., approximately AUD 99,905 plus 17% superannuation at The University of Western Australia).
  2. Accommodation Allowance: AUD 24,128 per annum (subject to tax).
  3. Research and Travel Allowance: A one-time allocation of up to AUD 12,000 for approved research-related expenses, international research, or conference travel.
  4. Relocation Allowance: Support for interstate and international Fellows, including economy airfare to Perth.

Expectations of Forrest Fellows

Fellows are expected to dedicate up to one day per week to the Foundation’s mission, which includes mentoring, ambassadorial activities, and leadership roles.

Appointments at Level B may be considered if supported by the employing university.


Application Process

To apply for the Forrest Research Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowships, follow these steps:

  2. Submit an Application: The application must include:

    • Curriculum vitae (CV).

    • Impact statement addressing selection criteria and your vision for creating positive change.
    • Contact details for four referees.
    • A recent photograph.
