Role Overview

As a Research Fellow, you will play a key role in preparing research papers, conducting econometric analysis, organizing economic data, and drafting policy reports. Your work will span various fields, including microeconomics, macroeconomics, finance, and development. Collaborating closely with RES researchers, you will analyze economic trends, engage in applied research, and contribute to academic discussions. This position is particularly suited for those considering advanced studies in economics, public policy, or related disciplines.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of research papers, policy reports, and presentations.

  • Collect, organize, and maintain extensive economic datasets.

  • Perform econometric and statistical analyses using software like Stata, MATLAB, R, or Python.

  • Conduct literature reviews and support field experiments.

  • Participate in discussions on economic and policy research.

  • Provide support for project management and administrative tasks.


Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in economics (Master’s preferred) with a strong foundation in quantitative analysis.

  • Experience: At least two years of experience in applied research, econometrics, and statistical analysis.

  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with econometric modeling and programming languages such as Python, R, MATLAB, or Stata.

  • Languages: Fluency in English and proficiency in one of IDB’s official languages (Spanish, French, or Portuguese).

  • Other Attributes: Strong interest in policy research, economic development, and regional economies in Latin America and the Caribbean.


Contract Type & Work Arrangement

  • International Consultant: Full-time, 18-month contract, based in Washington, D.C.

  • National Consultant (Remote): Full-time, 18-month contract, based in an IDB member country.
