Overview

The British Council Women in STEM Scholarships are tailored to women who aspire to take their STEM careers to the next level. This prestigious scholarship gives recipients the opportunity to study at world-class UK universities, where they will receive mentorship, gain invaluable skills, and contribute to advancing innovation in STEM.

Who Can Apply?

• Be a woman from one of the eligible countries listed above.
• Be prepared to start studies in the UK by September/October 2025.
• Demonstrate financial need for the scholarship.
• Hold an undergraduate degree that qualifies you for a master's programme in STEM.
• Demonstrate proficiency in English (e.g., IELTS score).
• Not hold dual nationality (applications from dual nationality holders will not be considered).
• Show active engagement or a strong interest in your chosen STEM field.
• Must not be receiving financial support from other UK sources.
• Preference will be given to candidates who show leadership potential and a commitment to advancing gender equality in STEM fields.

Application Procedure

1. Review Eligibility: Ensure you meet all eligibility criteria, including citizenship, academic background, and language proficiency.
2. Research Scholarships: Explore the available scholarship options and identify the ones that align with your career and academic aspirations.
3. Prepare Documents: Gather all required documents, including your academic transcripts, letters of recommendation, personal statement, and proof of English proficiency.
4. Complete the Application Form: Fill out the online application form provided by the British Council. Make sure all the information is accurate and complete.
5. Write a Personal Statement: Craft a compelling personal statement highlighting your academic achievements, career goals, and motivation for pursuing STEM education.
6. Submit Application: After completing the form and attaching all required documents, submit your application through the British Council’s online portal before the deadline.
7. Follow-up: Stay updated on the status of your application and be ready for potential requests for interviews or additional information.
8. Await Decision: Once the British Council reviews your application, they will notify you of the scholarship decision. If successful, follow the instructions provided to proceed with your studies.

What Financial Support is Available?

• Full tuition fees for the duration of the master’s programme.
• Living stipend to cover daily expenses.
• Travel costs to and from the UK.
• Visa and health coverage fees.
• Refund of the IELTS test fee if needed for English language proficiency.
